Breeahna Britt began her Video Production and Editing internship with the Open Media Foundation in August of 2013. Breeahna recounts her experiences as an intern with OMF and tells us what she is doing now.
"I fell in love with the television industry back in 2010 and have held various internships. However, once I returned back to Colorado in 2011, I struggled to find full-time entry level positions in the field. I learned about OMF via an internet search and began my internship shortly after.
It was through my internship at Open Media where I really developed my production and editing skills. From organizing and sorting footage and other assistant editing tasks, transcribing, basic camera work to PA duties – you name it – I was exposed to it while working with OMF. The staff really wanted to help me achieve my goals, and they aligned us up with opportunities that challenged, developed and even surprised me at times.
One of the many benefits of interning at Open Media Foundation is the fact that you can take workshops free while interning. They're fun and easy to follow.
For the Promo Pathway Program I am moving to Los Angeles for the Promo Pathway Program, and I created a video to show my copywriting, storyboarding and editing skills that were developed through this internship. Without the Motion workshop, the access to Mac computers and the software, this wouldn't have been made possible.
Thanks to everyone at Open Media Foundation for all that you do!"
