SAVE THE DATE, OPEN MEDIA FOUNDATION CELEBRATES WITH ANNUAL INDEPENDENT VOICES EVENT: DEC 5, 2014
(Denver, CO) December 5, 2014 The Open Media Foundation is excited to announce the return of its annual fundraiser, the OMF Independent Voices Celebration. The event will take place on December 5th 2014 starting at 7pm and will feature a silent auction with items donated by several different establishments.
Contributors for the evening are in the hundreds, with businesses and organizations from all around Colorado poised to make the evening the most successful yet. For a suggested $10 donation or 5$ for members, guests can enjoy food provided by Illegal Pete’s, Pizzeria Locale and Snarf's, as well as beer and wine from the Breckenridge Brewery and Wines off Wynkoop.
Live music will also be performed by Sorcha Richardson and Miss America by Wheary. Denver comedian Andrew Orvedahl will open the evening, which will be televised live on Denver Open Media, Channel 56.
“The food and entertainment we have scheduled for this event is almost overwhelming for me,” said OMF Executive Director, Tony Shawcross. “Two of my favorite bands on the planet, my favorite local comedian, and delicious food from some of the best chefs in Denver, this annual fundraiser is becoming a major event for Denver,” Shawcross said, adding “Seats for the music portion of the event will not be easy to come by.”
All proceeds from the event will be used to support the media services, training, and tools OMF provides to the community, as well as create opportunity for the development of additional programs.
Attendees will be able to bid on items in the celebration’s silent auction on Denver Open Media’s website several weeks prior when it opens on Nov. 7, as well as during the event. A wide variety of goods will be featured, all generously donated to preserve the mission of OMF, putting the power of the media into the hands of the people.
The Independent Voice Awards will also take place during the evening, which honor two individuals and two organizations for their innovative use of new media to promote positive social change.
The event will be open to the public, and located at the Open Media Foundation offices at 700 Kalamath St. Denver, CO 80204. Businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring any portion of the event should contact [email protected].
