For over a decade, OMF has been providing classes ranging from video and audio production, to animation and more, all aimed to improve individuals’ multimedia skills. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, these courses engage students professionally and personally, with the hope that everyone involved is able to use emerging media technologies to make an impact in their community.
Since 2007, the Open Media Foundation has awarded over 500 scholarships to provide more access to education and resources to those in need in our community. These scholarships have resulted in an increase in equipment certification and increased diversity in programming for Denver Open Media.
The organization encourages Individuals who are interested in a discount for these classes to complete the educational scholarship application. Qualified applicants are able to attend classes for a reduced fee of $25 (a discount of up to 90% off the full price). Thanks to funding from the Ed Limato Foundation, The Denver Foundation, and other donors, the Open Media Foundation is also offering a limited number of full scholarships for individuals who identify themselves as Hispanic, Latino/Latina or GLBT.
Recipient of several scholarships at the Open Media Foundation, Ron Metz, shares what the opportunity has done for him: “When I applied for the classes such as Field Production and Final cut pro, I was able to take the classes at a time when my budget very tight. I then was able to produce and edit my first project. I now have 5 shows under my belt now and I am currently working on entertainment shows and other non profit ventures.”
