Tell Us About Yourself.
After nearly eight years of traveling, volunteering, studying, and working abroad in South America, the Middle East, India, and everywhere in between, I am happy to be back in Colorado! Formerly a teacher in Boulder, CO and a program director for non-profits in London, UK, I am excited to continue working to help get people’s voices heard, this time in the media sphere. I went to graduate school for Public Policy in Tel Aviv, Israel, where I met my Australian husband, and I love snowboarding, volunteering, delicious food (cheese, aaahhhh), and squeezing pug dogs. A two-time cancer survivor, I have officially mastered the art of living each day like it’s my last!
Why do I think community media centers are important?
We live in a world where everything is digital or virtual, where it's very difficult to get by without some tech proficiency. I've watched communities become increasingly marginalized from spreading their message because they don't have the money or influence to accomplish it. I believe firmly in the goals of Open Media Foundation to give everyone the training, the resources, and the method to empower themselves and impact their community.
Tell us about your position and the work you will be doing for the organization.
As member relations manager, I will be ensuring that our members receive from us the best possible experience – I want them to feel supported and heard in every step of their journey with us. A top priority for me is also to explore and pursue opportunities for outreach and development, to ensure that everyone is able to benefit from the tech and media know-how that defines the success of future generations.
