The Frontier, openness, the west, community. These core ideals are fundamental to the mission of Muslims in the Mountain West (MMW). Believing that Muslims in the area are the ultimate invisible minorities, the MMW project is about giving them a space to describe their own experience of living in this region. The organization speaks to the media, nonprofits and curious members of the general population looking to have interfaith dialogues.
The MMW logo was designed to represent this unique project that is documenting the experience of the Muslim community who moved to the six Mountain West States to explore The Frontier. The design was inspired by combining the inherent openness of the West and the symbol of Islam.
This website was designed to be informational and easy to navigate, while conveying the sense of the frontier identity for the Muslim community. The front page features an interactive map where you can click any of the six mountain west states to get a quick preview of the major statistics for Muslims in that state. The menu features all six states with state icons to easily show where you can find state-related information. This website also features a photo gallery and podcasts.
