Ronald Otsuka, the former Joseph de Heer Curator of Asian Art, was with the Denver Art Museum from 1973 to 2014. He did his graduate studies at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and taught at Rutgers University, the University of Colorado/Denver, and the University of Denver. He was a board member of the Japan America Society of Colorado and an appointee to the Governor’s Asian Pacific American Advisory Council. In 2015, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun with Gold and Silver Rays for promoting goodwill between Japan and the United States.
